The drills presented in this part of the article have been categorized based on the main area of influence in relation to their effect on coordinative abilities. Hopefully these exercises will assist you in a deeper understanding of this particular part of soccer training.

1. REACTION

Players A and B are facing each other at about 3 yards distance. Player A has the ball which he tosses underhanded towards his partner. Shortly after the ball leaves his hands he shouts "left" giving player B the cue as to which leg he should use to return the ball. Player B volleys the ball back with the inside of his left foot.

2. BALANCE

Players A and B are facing each other at about 3 yards distance. Player A has the ball which he tosses underhanded towards player B ( player B stands on one leg ). Player B controls the ball in the air by taping it gently with the top of his foot and then he kicks it back towards player A. Player B stands on one leg throughout the exercise.

3. SPATIAL ORIENTATION

Players A and B are facing each other at about 3 yards distance. Each one of them has the ball in their hands. When the signal (auditory or visual) is given, both players toss the ball underhanded to their partner simultaneously. Then, each one volleys the ball back with the inside of the foot. It is important that the toss is directed towards a particular side in order to avoid interference with partner's ball.

4. RHYTHM SENSING

Players A and B are facing each other at about 2 yards distance. On the signal they begin to pass the ball on the ground without stopping it (one touch passing). After 3 consecutive passes they increase the distance by 2 yards. After reaching 10 yards they reverse direction and continue until they are 2 yards apart again.

5. ADAPTATION AND ADJUSTMENT

A group of 10 to 30 players dribble randomly within a limited area (grid) avoiding other players, and are at the same time trying to kick their balls out of the grid while maintaining possession of his or her own ball.

6. COMBINING MOVEMENTS

A player juggles the ball using his feet. On the signal he kicks it high in the air and allows it to bounce on the ground. He then walks underneath the ascending ball and continues to juggle after it descends.

7. DIFFERENTIATION

A player juggles the ball in the predetermined sequence using different parts of his body (for example, 3 times left foot, 1 time right knee, 3 times right foot, and 1 time chest).
