My beginnings

Deciding whether being an athlete can be beneficial to one's life is one of the greatest decisions an individual can make. I enjoyed sports as a little girl and started out wanting to be a gymnast and an ice skater. As I got older it changed to a basketball player, and then a thrower. I decided to pursue throwing my freshman year at Churchill High School in Livonia, Michigan when I was cut from the softball team and was recommended to try throwing for the track team. I enjoyed competition, awards/medals, and having the talent to be M.V.P for my team as an underclass man with only two events. As a sophomore in high school my ongoing streak of breaking the school records in shot put and disc began. The records had been there well over 20 years and I had the ability to break them as a sophomore in high school. After breaking the records continuously I realized that throwing could possibly be a fun and continuous career for me after high school. Since there were only two events in high school in Michigan I favored shot put more than the discus; so I decided to make it a goal to go as far as I could with my strength and talent with the shot put and aim to make the Olympic team to compete for U.S.A. Throughout college I continued to favor the shot put more, but I also grew an interest in the weight and hammer. Even though I was recruited for shot put at Kent State University, I seemed to excel more in weight and hammer. This was proven when I broke the school records at Kent State in the weight as well as the hammer. Even though I excelled in the other two events my love for shot put still remains. Throughout this upcoming season I will continue to train in the shot put and also pick up the weight indoor and the hammer outdoor and see how far I can go with all three events this year.
