June 7th was the day I made the decision that I would not settle for mediocre or just any throw. I was determined to hit a PR and improve my personal best because I knew I deserved to be at the USA Nationals. After throwing 6 attempts within 30 minutes I improved my season best to 17.07m. I decided to not go to USA Nationals because I had not put in enough time and practice to perform the way I would like and get top 8. I am now in my off season and plan to work even harder pre season to be successful this upcoming indoor season. As of now I have been doing a few power lifting meets where I now have the national record in single ply bench press and dead lift. Power lifting seems to go hand in hand with being a shot putter especially with the training that is also required. I recently finished at the Can-Am power lifting meet winning my division with a 259.4lb free bench press. I only did the free weight and not the equipped. Now that that is over I have the world championships November 2014 in West Palm Beach, FL. I will be taking a couple weeks off from throwing and then starting my pre season in mid August. Thank you to all my supporters, friends, and family I appreciate everything. Knowing that I have such a strong backbone to help me I know that all things are possible. Continuing to strive towards the goal and be successful!
